SELVORN makes clothes for walking slowly through a long day: long dresses, column skirts and light layers with a nineties line.
The long take
In film, a long take is a shot that runs without a cut. Nothing is hurried; you notice how people move. We design the same way. Each piece is judged in motion — on a walk to the tram, down a stairwell, across a square at dusk — not only standing still.
That is why most of our collection is long. A hem that reaches the ankle changes the way you walk. A bias cut swings a beat after you do. A column skirt draws one unbroken line from waist to floor.
Proportion, not decoration
We keep ornament to a minimum and spend our attention on proportion: where a waist seam sits, how wide a strap is, how far a slit opens. Every piece in the first collection has its own shape, detail or texture; none is simply the same pattern in a new colour.
- Proportion before ornament. The cut does the work.
- One line from shoulder to hem. Nothing that breaks the length without a reason.
- Colours that hold in low light. Bone, espresso, sienna, olive, slate and black.
